Trans-Caspian Urial
We had great hunting for Trans-Caspian Urial in Turkmenistan for many years but hunting was suspended in 2005.
We funded a wildlife survey in Turkmenistan in 2006 and the results were very good. We were told hunting would resume but the President of Turkmenistan unexpectedly died in early 2007. A new President was elected and again, we expected that hunting would again be authorized. Unfortunately, we discovered that the new President was influenced by anti-hunting groups and hunting was closed.
There is a slight chance that limited hunting could resume in Kazakhstan. Trans-Caspian Urial populations in Iran are exceptional, but no trophies from Iran can be imported into the U.S. Additionally, the government of Iran is unstable at best.
