Not noted as a lion destination South Africa does auction a few permits each year near and within its national parks for free-ranging wild African lion.  Permits are expensive and these hunts are often suited for the discriminating sportsman who has limited time available.  Plan at least one year in advance for a lion hunt to South Africa.
