Cape Buffalo
Cape buffalo/plains game safaris are without a doubt, one of the most popular hunts in Africa today. The animal known as “black death” has a certain mystique about him and in most cases the cost is not prohibitive when compared to other hunts worldwide. Seven-day cape buffalo hunts start at only $6300. Our safari companies have some of the largest cape buffalo quota on the continent and success rates are always high.
Our Rufunsa concession in Zambia produces cape buffalo up to 46”. Scores of cape buffalo are found in the famous Upper Lupande concession allowing clients to be very selective for their trophies. June through September is the popular time to hunt cape buffalo in Zambia.
Tanzania regularly produces 37 – 43” cape buffalo in the Selous and the Masailand with the occasional 48” buffalo harvested. We work with some of the best outfitters in Tanzania and typically conduct hunts July through November. Huge kudu are also hunted in Masailand and Selous here along with numerous other game species.
Hunt within the famous Okavango Wildlife Management Area in Botswana for outstanding cape buffalo (40-45”) with longtime, highly respected PHs. Hunt in the old African style up to a month-long safari for buffalo, lion, leopard, elephant and plainsgame. The hunting season begins in early April and ends in mid-September.
Zimbabwe and Mozambique are great places for the popular 7 to 14-day buffalo/plainsgame hunts because of the variety of game available and the price of the hunt. Seven day hunts in Zimbabwe start at just $6300 (2X1), but most clients opt for our 10-day safaris. These 7-day hunts take place in Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Zambia and Mozambique.
You can choose a short buffalo “only” safari or in combination with a multitude of species such as leopard, sable, roan and plainsgame. April through November is the time to hunt buffalo, but the best months can vary by country and even by concession.
