Cape Buffalo

Cape buffalo/plains game safaris are without a doubt, one of the most popular hunts in Africa today.  The animal known as “black death” has a certain mystique about him and in most cases the cost is not prohibitive when compared to other hunts worldwide.  Our safari companies have some of the largest cape buffalo quota on the continent and success rates are always high.

Our Rufunsa concession in Zambia produces cape buffalo up to 46”.  Scores of cape buffalo are found in the famous Upper Lupande concession allowing clients to be very selective for their trophies.  June through September is the popular time to hunt cape buffalo in Zambia.

Tanzania regularly produces 37 – 43” cape buffalo in the Selous and the Masailand with the occasional 48” buffalo harvested.  We work with some of the best outfitters in Tanzania and typically conduct hunts July through November.  Huge kudu are also hunted in Masailand and Selous here along with numerous other game species.

Hunt near the famous Okavango Wildlife Management Area in Botswana for outstanding cape buffalo (40-45”) with longtime, highly respected PHs.  Hunt in the old African style up to a month-long safari for buffalo, leopard, elephant and plainsgame.  The hunting season begins in early April and ends in mid-September.

Zimbabwe and Mozambique are great places for the popular 7 to 14-day buffalo/plainsgame hunts because of the variety of game available and the price of the hunt.  These 7-day hunts take place in Zimbabwe, Zambia and Mozambique.

You can choose a short buffalo “only” safari or in combination with a multitude of species such as leopard, sable, roan and plainsgame.  April through November is the time to hunt buffalo, but the best months can vary by country and even by concession.

Dwarf Forest Buffalo

Dwarf forest buffalo are the smallest and most lightly built of the African buffalo. However, this does not mean that hunters should take them lightly. We offer hunts for these elusive animals, combined with other indigenous species, within the forests of Cameroon and in the Central African Republic.

16-day hunts are the norm for buffalo hunts in Cameroon. This hunt will allow you to take a dwarf buffalo, plus one of the following: bongo, forest sitatunga, forest elephant, plus four smaller species such as duikers and bush pig.

The Central African Republic is the place to go for short hunts of 7 or 13-days or if you have the desire to take more than one buffalo. The duikers, Red River hog, oribi and warthog can also be taken on the 7-day hunts. Add one of the following to make a 13-day hunt or three of the following to make a 20-day hunt: lion, Lord Derby eland, bongo, sitatunga, giant forest hog, western greater kudu.

These hunts are for those who want to experience something different and for the serious collector.
